Meet Viktor and Talya, the Toledo Zoo’s new tiger cubs. They were born in September and put on exhibit early this year. Last weekend, Michelle and I finally got over to the zoo to see them. The zoo is great this time of year – the animals are more active in the cold then they are in the summer, and there are hardly any people there.

When we went to see the baby elephant last fall, we waited 15 minutes in a line and got four minutes in front of the exhibit. This time, we spent 25 minutes watching the cubs play and talking to Jim, one of the docents.

Viktor and Talya acted just like big kittens, but at six months old they’re already as big as medium-sized dogs. Their paws were enormous and you can tell they’re going to be huge.

The cubs’ mother is Marta, who was also born at the Toledo Zoo. These are Marta’s first cubs, but she seems to be doing a great job with them.
